Items Needed for Panama
YOUR PRAYERS - As you know very well, the mission field is a spiritual battle and we need to be ready with the Lord's armor on, and continually be bathed in prayer...the life and ministry of this group depends on prayers. We seek the Lord's provision and direction in all aspects of this work. Our purpose is to glorify Him in all we do.
MEDICAL/SURGICAL SUPPLIES….Letters have been sent to four local hospitals in Columbus, asking for donations. If anyone thinks there is a possibility for his/her local hospital to donate, please let us know and we can send you the letter of request and all you have to do is to change the name and address of the hospital you are sending it too. We suggest you follow up your letter with a phone call within two weeks after your letter was mailed.
SCHOOL BAGS – We usually give these full of school supplies to children who come to VBS or to the health fairs, and to the children at the hospital. Skandia, our home church in Minnesota, has been making these for the past six years, and if you would like to help with these, we can post sewing instructions on the blog.
GIFT BAGS FOR MOMS: These are also bags made of fabric which are then filled with toiletries for the mom’s who stay with their sick children at the hospital. Many of them come from remote/poor communities in a rush with a very sick child. The bags have soap, shampoo, a comb/brush, toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, a roll of toilet paper, a wash cloth, a notebook/pen, a small Kleenex packs, hand wash (we purchase these locally). If you would like to make some of these bags, we can also post sewing instructions.
USED CLOTHING –We received a request for gently used clothes/shoes for children in all sizes to give to the children at the hospital.
BABY LAYETTES – A layette is a baby shirt with its matching receiving blanket. We take those to the maternity ward at the hospital. If you would like to make some, we can e-mail you the sewing directions. We also like to add a soap/lotion gift for the mom (most of these are purchased locally so we can save luggage space for medical supplies.
TRACTS – It is desirable for each gift to have an age appropriate tract. We will be in need of a lot of teenage tracts this year. Lord willing, we will be having our first Christian Concert and the target audience is the local youth. Grupo Trigo is the local Christian music band who will be in charge of the music, finding the speaker, visiting the churches, reserving the local music shell, all the connections for the sound system, and all furnishings.
CANDY/BALLOONS/ FACE PAINT - Our very own clown will be giving away candy and balloons during all VBS and health fair functions.
T-SHIRT LOGO CONTEST –The Alfa & Omega Family Ministries would like to have its’ own identifying t-shirts that all missionaries wear while traveling and to wear at the concert, or any other group activity. We can have these made for as low as $4.00/shirt in Panama. LOGO CONTEST begins today. Submission deadline is Jan. 15. Submit your entry by e-mail (Adobe document) to norkli55@yahoo.com
FINANCES - The FAITH BUDGET for this trip is $30,000. It looks like a big number, but folks, God has large size plans, and we need to trust Him to provide for all our needs...He owns the resources, we just have to ask Him in faith to provide according to His will and plan for Panama.
SEWING DAY –EACH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON(12:00 – 5:00 pm) is sewing day at the Klingler’s home. If you would like to join us, please come with your own scissors (if you so desire), and a half yard of fabric (any cotton blend will do).
